http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2014/08/19/ferguson-martin-luther-king-jr-police-protestors-revolution-peace-unemployment-column/14288367/

1. What is the topic of the cartoon/ written editorial?

       The riots in Ferguson, Missouri.

2.  How do each represent their topic? What is the author's/ cartoonist's views on their subject matter?

That the situation is getting out of control and that it's so similar to everything that's bad that's happening now.

3. In what ways are they (cartoon/ editorial) alike? In what ways are they different?

They both deal with the riots in Ferguson. One concentrates on the views of Dr. Martin Luther King if he was still alive.

4. Which (cartoon/written editorial) is more effective at proving their point

        The cartoon.

5. What are the benefits of drawing an editorial cartoon vs. writing an editorial? What are the drawbacks?

People really read that much now so they look for pictures for information but reading an article will give even more information.
